Hello...

...I am Kim,

I have always loved food.

My interest was obvious from a young age - whether I was baking sweet treats with my sisters,  or hiding in my room watching cookery programmes instead of cartoons.

If I'd thought I could hack it, I'd have embarked on a career as a chef, however, having worked in kitchens during my university days as a KP, I knew that home cooking was to be my outlet of choice; knowing I would crack under the pressure of being a chef in a professional kitchen.

It's strictly home-cooking and enjoying the creations of the real professionals that suits me best.

Back in 2016 I started an Instagram page, sharing my own recipes, yummy finds and lifestyle gems from London and on my travels. 12 months and 10,000 followers later, I was receiving more and more requests to start a recipe blog.

The picture above was taken during my trip to Sri Lanka in January 2017 when I decided to create this blog site to share my adventures in Veganland!

Starting out on my own vegan journey, I became so much more aware of the planet and how we as humans treat it; both for the good and, sadly, for the bad.

I was surprised to learn just how much impact meat and dairy consumption has on the world we live in including; world hunger and poverty, water waste, soil pollution, energy consumption, air quality, and the life of every single living soul on earth.

I decided that I no longer wished to complain at a computer screen or TV. I want to #bethechange and do my bit. I no longer wish to participate in or spend my money supporting cruel practice for my own taste buds or fashion whims.

I am now a firm believer that you cannot be an environmentalist while consuming fish, meat or dairy. Not with the devastating impact fishing, farming and killing has on the environment.

This has also lead on to my charity appeal which I run every year for Valentine's Day, encouraging us to share some love, and whatever we would normally spend, on this day, on someone who may need it more. Click here for more information!

“Every time you spend money, you're casting a vote for the kind of world you want" Anna Lappe.

I want to show people that whatever your lifestyle, being vegan can work for you - there is no sterio-typical vegan. We are now in a world where  ''being vegan is boring'' is becoming more of a ridiculous statement with the choices and options available to us.

But I also know that people who transition into a vegan/plant-based diet need a little support and inspiration.

I live in hope that one day the question 'Why are you vegan?' is no longer  necessary to ask. The day when not contributing to the suffering of animals, the oceans, our planet, those in poverty, and our health, is finally not in question or ridicule, but is considered to be the right thing to do. If we want to change the world, it has to start with our plate, and in how much we consume, and how ethical our choices are.

Vegans; new, old or curious - welcome to my tiny part of the world.

If there is something you would like to see featured on my blog, if you are a charity, brand or agency who would like to collaborate, please contact me!

Keep in touch,

Kim.
